Atchayam Foodbox, a Chennai based food startup company, founded by Mr. Satish Chamy Velumani, was unlike the rest. Similar to an ATM machine for cash, the company made vending machines for pre-cooked, packaged meals. 

 

These vending machines were packed in wooden pallet boxes producing a considerable amount of packaging wood waste which was brought back to the company for recycling or disposal. Considering this, the new office at SP Infocity Chennai was designed with an idea to set up their interior space making use of these wood pallets to the most. All the office furniture, including the workstations, partitions, mezzanines, seating, light fixtures as well as coffee tables were made on-site with the local carpenters.

The wooden pallets with their rugged yet chic, industrial finish, gave the office a unique character that boldly stood out against the conventional ‘finished’ interiors of an  IT office. The open plan office includes a workstation area, a lounge area along with a play area, pantry, and a mezzanine which acts as a small socialising space covering the conference room below.
